Rick’s Community Support Drive: Building Community, One Board At A Time
June 17, 2020
It takes a community to Prevent Homelessness. We’ve known this from the earliest days of Impact NW as we sat around that kitchen table in the Buckman Neighborhood and sought to unite our community in the fight against poverty and homelessness. And now today, as our community endures the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the power of a united community is shining brighter than ever.
Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking knows this and continues to step up to meet the need during this unprecedented moment.
In the early weeks of COVID-19’s ongoing impact on our community, as Rick’s entered the busiest time of the year for their business, there was no question what they had to do: They saw the increased need in their community and asked “how can we help?” Hearing the calls for help as the supply for masks fell dangerously low at the hospital near their Salem location, the team at Rick’s quickly jumped into action collecting nearly 350 masks for immediate donation.
THAT’S the power of community.
But Rick’s didn’t stop there. Seeing the increased need of our most vulnerable neighbors as this crisis continues to impact us all, Rick’s is stepping up to make a massive impact with their Community Support Drive.
“During the month of June, we will donate $0.25 for every fence board we sell to support organizations that provide immediate COVID-19 relief in our community. Our goal is to sell 100,000 boards, which would amount to a total community donation of $25,000.”
With less than 2 weeks to go for their Community Support Drive, they’re well on track to hitting their goal and making a massive impact on our community! So whether it’s you, your neighbor, or anyone looking for yet another quarantine project, you can make an impact (all while supporting an amazing local community business!)
Having been a community fixture for more than 40 years, Rick’s has grown into one of the largest retailers of fencing and decking in the Pacific Northwest, now serving five locations throughout Oregon and Washington. Throughout their 40 years of community partnership, Rick’s commitment to service has embedded them in the fabric of our community.
The power of community is realized when we unite. Rick’s knows this and we are so grateful to have their support in the fight to prevent homelessness.
