Meet Andrea Ngo, Human Resources Generalist at Impact NW

Andrea Ngo is an HR Generalist at Impact NW

Andrea Ngo is an HR Generalist at Impact NW

Andrea Ngo grew up near Hillsboro, Oregon with two younger brothers, one sister, and her parents. She went to Westview High School and then to Portland State University to earn her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. One year later, she went back to PSU to earn an HR management certificate.

Andrea started as a HR assistant at the nonprofit CODA and within a year became a HR Generalist. As an HR Generalist for Impact NW, she is responsible for setting up all new employees with a profile in the payroll portal. She also does all recruiting and job advertising, processes new hire paperwork, and processes timesheets.

“I love how many programs Impact NW has to offer,” says Andrea. “There are a lot of opportunities to volunteer in different programs within Impact NW, which is interesting to me, since I am behind the scenes a lot, so by volunteering at the Independent Living Program I can really see what our programs are like.”

When asked how she would like to grow in her current position, Andrea said, “I hope to gain more knowledge in Human Resources, specifically benefits management, leaves of absences and employee labor and relations. It’s an area of HR that I am not familiar with, but with more years in Human Resources – I hope to learn more! HR is such a big field and constantly changing as laws are changing, so there is always something new to learn and keep me interested.”
