After Hurricane Katrina, Brenda lost everything. She found her way to Portland to work in nursing but lost her job due to a disability. Without an income or other support, Brenda ended up on the streets for many years. That is when she found Impact NW.

Knowing that Brenda had lost so much, Impact NW staff worked hard to build a good relationship with Brenda. Brenda’s case manager, Alisha, connected her to basic needs and then, despite the odds, permanent housing. Today, Brenda is pursuing her interests and a future for herself.

“Impact NW doesn’t give up on you,” Brenda says.
