Impact NW Announces Special Give!Guide Open Mic Evening at Core Food Carts

Attendees at the event will be encouraged to support Impact NW’s mission of preventing homelessness while dining at the Core food carts and  listening to open mic entertainment from local artists

PORTLAND, Ore., December 6, 2021This Wednesday (December 8th) from 5pm-8pm Impacto NW, the Portland nonprofit preventing homelessness by partnering with people as they navigate their journey to stability and opportunity, is hosting an open mic night at Core food carts to encourage support for the nonprofit’s Willamette Week GiveGuide! fundraiser. As a 2021 Give!Guide recipient selected by Willamette Week, Impact NW is encouraging its supporters to donate to a great cause, while also enjoying local entertainment, great food and the opportunity to win prizes through the generous Give!Guide campaign. The event is taking place outside, as per COVID-19 guidance, though there is open, covered shelter available in case of inclement weather.

“Our community is still in crisis as we continue to navigate factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, a situation exacerbated by the housing crisis. We are now seeing more than 100,000 people in the greater Portland area living on the verge of homelessness, which is a staggering number,” says Impact NW Executive Director, Andy Nelson. “It’s important for us at Impact NW to take these opportunities to come together to support our neighbors who are one step away from losing their housing. I am also so heartened to receive support from Willamette Week, Core food carts to make this event a reality. These events do help us work towards our ultimate goal of uniting the community to prevent homelessness.”

Founded in 1966, Impact NW has built a legacy of hope and opportunity within the Portland community. The nonprofit works to prevent homelessness by partnering with thousands of people in danger of losing their housing annually, aiding both at-risk individuals and families.

Impact NW supports people through services such as rent, utility and other upstream support such as job training, parenting support and opportunities for children.
