This Spring, our SHINE (Schools Helping Involve Neighborhoods in Education) after-school program at William Walker Elementary partnered with Saturday Academy to offer Digital Photography skills to students with master photographer Kelton Woodburn. One of our students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to grow as an artist!

Yair first got into photography while taking photos with his Mom’s camera and discovered a hidden talent! “I thought I was good with pictures,” said Yair, who jumped at the chance to learn more photography skills through our SHINE after-school class.

“I learned how to use a flash and how to time taking a photo,” said Yair. “I like angling where I am going to take the photo, like in the sky or the water. Like when I took a photo of a red coat that had been in the water.”

A quick learner, Yair easily picked up and played with different skills within the realm of digital photography. “Mr. Woodburn taught me silhouettes, texture, vision, color, and how to use the big camera,” said Yair.
