Yolanda Award – Jerome Smith
Jerome Smith and his children (left to right): Benjamin, Judah, Levi, Joseph, and Jasmine
This year, we honor Jerome Smith, a veteran and dedicated father of five who worked with Impact NW to secure permanent housing after experiencing homelessness.
Yolanda Gallegos first came to Impact NW’s teen center as a troubled teenager. She worked with Impact NW over the years to complete her high school education, find employment and earn a college degree. Today, she is a teacher in North Portland, where she has returned to provide others the encouragement to fulfill their dreams and establish a prosperous, safe family life. Impact NW has awarded the Yolanda Award to exceptional Impact NW clients for more than a decade to honor the heroic human spirit that Ms. Gallegos’ story exemplifies.
