Impact NW’s sixth annual Power of One Luncheon, celebrated the work made possible by generous individuals, businesses and organizations that supported Impact NW over the past year. Thanks to the generosity of Presenting sponsor JPMorgan Chase & Co. and the 14 other sponsors and over 300 guests in attendance, the event raised over $60,000 for Impact NW programming.Kim Menig, AKA Science program manager presents the Power of One award to Alicia Snowden and several members of the Umpqua Bank volunteer team.
The Power of One award was given to Alicia Snowden and members of a volunteer team from Umpqua Bank. The Umpqua team earned the prestigious award by donating over 1,300 hours of service to the AKA Science program.
Frank Foti, CEO of Vigor Industrial, a generous supporter of the Impact NW Pathways to Manufacturing program, was the keynote speaker. Vigor was one of many local manufacturing companies present at the event, including Daimler, the Greenbrier Companies, and Coffman Excavation.
“Through Pathways to Manufacturing we are training and employing students who are now, well motivated people in our workforce. Vigor is honored to be part of the process and want to see these kind of initiatives grow. It’s time to start evolving and redefining what community means and how we can help,” said Frank Foti.
The Yolanda Award was presented to Joseph Miles-Kelly, a 2014 graduate from Centennial High School and the Pathways to Manufacturing program. He is now a welder-fitter in the rail department at Gunderson. “Impact NW was very helpful in my path to success. They have helped me in more ways than I think they know,” said Joe Miles-Kelly.
“What really motivates me about Joe’s story is that he’s taken life head on. He exemplifies the courage of the human spirit to seek out a new future, one that will bring security and prosperity,” said Aaron Bouchane, Pathways to Manufacturing program manager.
